The Brazilian Observatory is based at the Faculty of Law of the University of São Paulo, also known as the Largo de São Francisco Faculty of Law.

The Faculty was founded in 1827 and is one of the first two law schools in Brazil. In 1934 it was incorporated into the University of São Paulo - USP.  It is a center of excellence in law teaching and legal research, as well as a landmark in various historical events in Brazil, with a recognized role in guaranteeing the democratic rule of law in the country.
